Welcome to CERN’s Magnet Qualification and Analysis section website. We are responsible for the test and qualification of all of CERN’s superconducting magnets, and we maintain and operate one of the largest superconducting magnet laboratories in the world, in CERN’s building SM18.

Once in charge of the qualification of all of main dipoles and quadrupoles for the LHC, since 2015 we test short prototype magnets for the HL-LHC project, and since 2023 we focus on the qualification of the full-length cryoassemblies to be installed in the LHC. In addition, we test and analyze R&D magnets for the HFM program, medical applications, and other projects, both from CERN and collaborating institutes.
